Bakery Delivery Responsive Website

An responsive website available on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices that brings pickup and delivery options to a local bakery.

My role

UX/Product Designer

Responsibilities

Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.

Target audience

People who visit a bakery at least once a week and people who have busy schedules that keep them from being able to visit a bakery during operating hours.

Project problem

Bakery customers want more convenient ways to place orders for pickup or delivery so they can skip the line or save a trip.

Project Goal

Design a responsive website for BK Bakers that will allow customers to schedule orders for pickup or delivery.

Research study details

I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users I’m designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research was working adults who don’t have time to wait in long lines or make it to the bakery before it closes.

This user group confirmed that bakery customers would like the option to pickup or schedule delivery. I also learned that customers do want a feature that will allow them to schedule repeat deliveries and would be open to subscriptions that would scheduled periodic deliveries.

Personas

Initial designs

I did a quick ideation exercise to come up with ideas for how to address gaps identified in the competitive audit. My focus was on the bakery customer rather than the bakery owner for this first iteration.

Wireframes

I developed digital wireframes for desktop and mobile to determine overall page layout and navigation.

Usability testing

High fidelity mockups

I developed high fidelity mockups for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. I also developed a working prototype in AdobeXD.

Impact

Designs made it easy for users to order delivery or pickup from their favorites bakery.

What I learned

I learned the basics of how to use AdobeXD as I had used Figma prior to the project. I also learned how to consider and account for various screen sizes during the design process.
